Many options exist now for locating info, from data checks to hiring private investigators for long term work. People contact these investigators if they need info about someone, often family members and lost friends, and pay a fee for the research. Theres lots of other reasons people use them also. However most of us never need to track people down or investigate people, and even if we did we probably wouldnt want to pay. Researching has changed in recent years though, because the internet has been integral to new online background websites which can provide a similar service, cheaper. Someone suspicious about another person or their background can find out about them now, maybe check their criminal records or even run reverse phone number lookup to find out who phoned you and left annoying messages.
