In this article I am going to be speaking about hypnosis and some of the common myths that surround it. There is much debate between scientists and hypnotists as to whether or not hypnosis is actually real. Scientists argue that there isn’t any concrete evidence to suggest that hypnosis exists. While I agree with this you can’t write hypnosis off because of this because the same principal can be applied to a lot of things in life. A common myth with hypnosis is that when you return to your natural unhypnotised state you won’t remember anything that happened while you were hypnotised. This is totally false in very rare cases a side effect of hypnosis can be amnesia but this is very rare. In many cases it is in the hands of the hypnotist how much you remember when they bring you back from your hypnotised state. Common Hypnosis Myths. Some people seem to believe that being hypnotised can help their memory of a crime they witnessed or other significant events in their life. However research has proved the exact opposite. For the reasons which I spoke about higher up hypnosis can cause loss of memory rather than helping it. Most of these rumours have been started by the media. Another myth which results in people wasting a lot of time is that an athletic edge can be gained through hypnosis. This is another myth which thanks to the media has been over hyped and exaggerated. This can take a viral effect, if one famous sports person turns to hypnosis everyone starts doing it because they think that the experts are doing it for a reason and they must follow. The reality is that hypnosis cannot make people any stronger, it is impossible. There are many things hypnosis can help you with however and that is why people pay hypnotists. Weight loss is a common catalyst in people turning to hypnosis. Anyone who is on a diet misses the foods they aren’t having due to their diet, usually sugary snacks and fatty foods. They therefore turn to hypnosis to help them with their cravings. The most common form of hypnosis is an art called conversational hypnosis. The days of a ball on a string swinging in front of someone are long gone. Conversational hypnosis is applied by speaking to people softly and in a way that will influence people’s minds. There are some professional hypnotists that like to demonstrate their skills on TV and their skills are almost unbelievable. There are many conversational hypnosis courses being sold these days throughout the Internet. Some of them are very informative for beginners and with the correct amount of dedication to learning a complete newbie can grow to an intermediate level of hypnosis skills. Unfortunately because the online hypnosis market is becoming more and more popular it is giving birth to some bogus hypnosis courses which are being set up by people looking to make some easy money.
